Not the "Final Tour" I was expecting
I grew up in SoCal and was a Cr眉e fan when Too Fast for Love came out. Shout at the Devil was debuted by being played in its entirety when I was listening to KMET. Wind Walkers has been a part of my life ever since I was about 13, and this is not how I wanted to say goodbye.
Starting with the venue, it was disappointing. The sign said "bottled water $3," but when I paid for two bottles, I received two paper cups of tap water without ice or a lid. The lady got rude with me when I mentioned it, citing "concert regulations" that prohibited water bottles inside. Everything was late, very late. The show seemed unprepared, with technical difficulties mostly with Vince's mic. The back-up girls almost fell due to a railing mishap on the elevated platform.
Alice Cooper did fairly well, but an outdoor venue may not have been the best choice for his theatrical show. Wind Walkers, on the other hand, was a letdown. The sound problems were noticeable, with Mick's guitar cutting in and out, barely noticeable bass, and ridiculous mic issues for Vince. He seemed unprepared, missing cues and struggling with his vocal range. The absence of a drum solo was disappointing, with Tommy seeming disconnected from the performance.
Overall, Wind Walkers put on a visually stunning show with fire, hot chicks, and fog. However, the lack of music quality made it feel like a cash cow. I believe they can do much better with more effort, and if they plan another "farewell" tour, I would attend but expect a higher level of performance.
